Caminando/ As I was walking

Hoy mientras saque a Lukas a pasear en el cochecito, nos metimos en una calle lateral (siempre uso la calle principal) y vimos esto: (tuve que volver a casa a buscar la cámara!)

Today as I was taking Lukas out for a stroll, we started exploring the lateral streets (we always use the main street). And we saw this: (I HAD to go back home to fetch my camera!)

Despues, vi una casa que tenia dos piletones enormes en el patio de adelante, y un tipo sentado mirando fijamente dentro de un pileton - muy meditabundo. Junte coraje y le pregunte que tenia ahi adentro. Resulta que el hombre habla ingles, y me explico que tiene peces (de esos grandes dorados), son premium y los cria para concurso. Tenia solo 4 dentro de un pileton. Primera vez que me entero que existen concursos de peces pedigrí! Me dijo que lleva muchos meses, pero le da paz mirarlos. Y que el pez que le gano un concurso se murio hace poco, asi que tuvo que empezar de nuevo. Que lindo poder charlar con la gente... 

After that, I saw a house with two large pools, and a guy staring meditatively into one of them. I felt shy, but just went for it and asked him what was in there. He explained it's premium goldfish (he had only four in one large pool). He raises them for competitions (first time I hear about this! Pedigree goldfish, hehe). He told me one of his winners died recently, so he's having to start over. That it gives him so much peace to just sit there and stare at his fish. That it's a lot of work to raise premium goldfish. Wow. I loved learning this stuff. It's wonderful when we can actually talk to the people!

Y hoy es el dia del padre en Tailandia. La gente iba vestida de amarillo (el color del rey, el padre de Tailandia - hoy es su cumpleanios, de paso), a una ceremonia. No fui porque la musica era muy fuerte y me daba miedo por Lukas. Y no tengo remera amarilla (aunque eso no importa).

Today is Father's Day in Thailand, because of the King's birthday. So the people were all dressed in yellow, the King's color, for a ceremony. I didn't go to watch the ceremony because of Lukas (music was SOOOO loud!). And I don't have a yellow shirt - but that wouldn't be a problem!
